The Express Entry system is an online process used by the Government of Canada to manage immigration applications for skilled workers. It involves three main immigration programs:
- Canadian Experience Class: For skilled workers with eligible Canadian work experience within the last three years.
- Federal Skilled Worker Program: For skilled workers with foreign or Canadian work experience, meeting education and other criteria.
- Federal Skilled Trades Program: For skilled workers in trades with a valid job offer or qualification certificate.
Applicants can also apply for the Provincial Nominee Program if nominated, which adds extra points to their profile.
The process includes five steps:
- Check eligibility: Answer questions or review detailed requirements.
- Check your score: Submit your profile to be ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
- Prepare documents: Gather necessary documents like language test results.
- Submit profile: Fill out and submit your Express Entry profile.
- Get an invitation and apply: Those with the highest CRS scores receive invitations to apply, with a 60-day deadline to submit the application.
Most complete applications are processed in 6 months or less.
